1. HYPNOTHERAPY
Hypnotherapy is the practical use of Hypnosis, which together with the application of psychology, is a treatment for ailments of a psychological nature. Hypnosis is a very pleasant state of relaxation when the client allows carefully worded beneficial suggestions to enter into the unconscious mind, thereby helping to alleviate or end an ailment. Contrary to popular belief Hypnosis is not a state of unconsciousness when the mind is taken over. Whilst under Hypnosis the client remains aware of what is happening and can, at any time, leave the state of Hypnosis should he or she wish to do so.
2. PSYCHOTHERAPY Psychotherapy is the application of psychology in the treatment of disorders of a psychological nature. Relaxation techniques are sometimes used and taught. Techniques such as Guided Imagery, are used to bring to the surface the underlying reasons for the disorder, thereby allowing the client to learn ways of dealing with it. Psychotherapy can be used to resolve problems quite quickly, but it is pointed out that the degree of co-operation from the client and the depth of the problem, dictates the length of time necessary to resolve a problem to a clients satisfaction. It is not unusual for both Hypnotherapy and Psychotherapy to bring some relief after the first session.
3. HYPNOTHERAPY and PSYCHOTHERAPY The two therapies combine to help you to help yourself. Problems can only be solved with your full co-operation and the following is only a small number of problems that can be helped through this treatment. SMOKING SLIMMING NERVOUSNESS ANXIETY DEPRESSION EXAM NERVES INSOMNIA PHOBIAS NAIL BITING BED WETTING PSORIASIS ECZEMA STAMMERING SEXUAL PROBLEMS STUDYING SPORTS PROBLEMS ETC.
4. ALMOST ANYONE CAN BE HYPNOTIZED Small children do not respond to Hypnosis, simply because they cannot fully comprehend what is being said to them. Everyone else, to some degree, can enter into hypnosis. Some into a deep trance state very quickly and others only into a light trance state. A light trance state is sufficient to produce therapeutic results in a high percentage of cases.
5. COMMON FEARS and MISUNDERSTANDINGS The portrayal of hypnotists and the effects of hypnosis in films, books and television by sensation seeking authors and producers, gives a completely wrong impression to the general public, stage hypnosis in particular is very misleading as it can involve alcohol or inappropriate psychological manipulation by the stage hypnotist. These people are entertainers, not therapists. You do not, whilst undergoing medical hypnosis, lose control of yourself, have your mind taken over, risk falling asleep forever, reveal your innermost secrets nor do you act upon unacceptable suggestions which would cause you to feel foolish.
6. HYPNOSIS DOES WORK The human
mind consists of two parts, the Conscious and the Sub-conscious. The Conscious
part of your mind is the logical thinking part and the Sub-Conscious the feeling
non logical part. Psychological ailments which are those we cannot deal with
through the use of our Conscious thinking minds lie in the Sub-Conscious. As
Hypnotherapy and Psychotherapy deal with ailments at a Sub-conscious level,
that is to say at the level of the mind where they originate, it is reasonable
to assume that the only truly effective treatment of ailments such as anxiety,
feelings of inferiority etc. is a treatment that reaches the Sub-Conscious mind.
I hope that this leaflet has helped YOU to understand the value of Hypnosis
when undertaken by an experienced and qualified therapist. All treatment is
given in the strictest confidence and conducted with the clients best interests
in mind. at all times.
