Our first target is to raise money through fundraising events for 2 important aspects of child poverty in South Africa & Zambia.
Child Drop – newly born babies and orphaned children
Prosthetic limbs for child amputees
Child Drop – newly born babies and orphaned children
New born babies, many infected with AIDS and suffering severe malnutrition are abandoned by their families outsides churches where signs declare – Child Drop!
These children are taken in by parishioners with no questions asked and raised by Christian families!
The monies raised will help support the local churches and the parish priests to assist families in caring for these children by providing much needed food and medication.
Prosthetic limbs for child amputees
Zambian children playing in the bush suffer the constant danger of snake bite! The only option for bite victims and to save the lives of these young children, is by amputating the affected limb.
Money raised will help pay for the many artificial limbs a child will require as it grows and to help provide the transportation needed by the specialist team fitting the victims with their life changing prosthetics.
Just for fun and to gain attention for the fundraising and for MAD2011, Mike, on
the drums, recorded with a brilliant 20 year old Portuguese guitarist and singer,
João Graça, ”We will Rock You” at a studio in Lisbon, Portugal. This is going on
to YouTube, with an account number to encourage donations (www.mycharity.ie) and
to draw attention to the aims of MAD2011.( www.mad2010.com)
WE are All ONE FAMILY
SOUTH AFRICA...We will! WE Will ROCK YOU......!
Co. Clare in Ireland, has a link to Saldanha Bay, a diocese of Cape Town, discovered by Vasco da Gama from Portugal and inhabited by his sailors. We have decided with the aid of Motor Cycle Groups in Ireland, in particular the Banner Group based in Ennis, Co. Clare, and any other groups that wish to take part, to ride our motor-bikes to draw attention to our aims.
The first runs takes place in Ireland to raise funds from sponsors and the general public, through daily collections and offering evening events , such as Hog Roasts , Live Bands, Raffles, Bingo, to further increase funds, for food, medical care, support and even counselling for the children and their families.
The final ride will take place over a week in mid- June 2011, culminating in a GRAND ENTRANCE to the MAD2011 (Making A Difference) www.mad2010.com Christian Rock Concert held at Ballinacoola, Glenealy, Co. Wicklow.
This will be followed by a ride in Cape Town, the latter half of 2011, where there
are also DOLPHINS where we can work with the children in the water-very powerful
therapy!
THERE IS AN ADVISORY PANEL TO MONITOR ALL DECISION MAKING AND FUND RAISING
EFFORTS.
HANDS AROUND THE GLOBE, through its web page www.handsaroundtheglobe.com will carry all the details of events and results as they happen.
The intention is that YouTube and Facebook will carry advertising and a system is
being set up that will allow donations to be made.
The ORGANISATION is ECUMENICAL
We would like to encourage the participation of the Scouts and Guides, in Ireland and Africa, to give the African children an input to help them to realize their dreams.
A service of dedication to the project will be held on day one of the ride, and on
the final day at the MAD 2011 event to give thanks for all involved in the effort.
